A Resource in Support of
Seniors and Those Who
Care for Them

Introduction

The Argyle Foundation is pleased to offer The Argyle Guide to help you understand and locate resources that are available to enrich the lives of seniors.

We believe you will find the information provided here helpful and easy to use. We hope it will be a tool that you use often as you gather information to make decisions for yourself and those you care for. Finding information can seem overwhelming, but there are many organizations and services that exist to help seniors locate and effectively utilize a broad spectrum of resources.

In America, more than 22 million people are helping to care for a senior family member. The Argyle Guide includes resources in support of this informal network of caring.

If you are a senior, you are in good company! The number of Americans age 65 and older is expected to nearly double to 71.5 million by 2030 and grow to 86.7 million by 2050. Today, the nearly 36 million Americans over the age of 65 represent about 12.6 percent of the population, or about one in eight people.

In addition, the percentage of seniors living in poverty continues to climb, creating increased challenges to growing older.
